PinSkate ("we," "us," or "our") operates the PinSkate mobile and web application. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
**Account Information** — email address, username, password (hashed), date of birth (if provided), and profile details including avatar, bio, shirt size, and shoe size.
**User-Generated Content** — spots you submit, obstacles you add, tricks you log, videos you upload, check-ins, ratings, votes, and any text content you post.
**Location Data** — GPS coordinates when you check in, add a spot, log a trick, or use location-based features. We do not continuously track your location.
**Device & Usage Data** — browser type, device type, IP address, pages visited, and app usage patterns.
**Communications** — messages you send through the app including film requests and brand inquiries.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Display your profile, activity, and achievements
• Enable location-based features like spot discovery and check-ins
• Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
• Notify you of activity relevant to your account
• Display aggregate analytics to brands (never individual PII without consent)
• Enforce our Terms of Service and community guidelines
• Comply with legal obligations
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information with:
**Service Providers** — third parties that help us operate the platform (Supabase for database and auth, Vercel for hosting, Resend for email, Mapbox for maps). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.
**Brands on PinSkate** — brands can view your public profile, XP, level, trick count, and general location (city level only). They cannot see your email, exact GPS history, or private information without your explicit consent.
**Legal Requirements** — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
**Business Transfers** — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you of any such change.
5. Location Data
We collect GPS coordinates only when you perform a location-based action (check-in, spot submission, trick logging). We do not run background location tracking. Location data is used to verify proximity and is stored with your activity records. You can deny location access in your device settings, but this will disable location-dependent features.
6. User-Generated Content
Content you submit — including videos, photos, spot names, and trick logs — is publicly visible to other users by default. Do not post content you do not want others to see. Trick videos are stored on our servers and associated with your account. You may request deletion of your content by contacting us.
7. Children and Minors
PinSkate is intended for users 13 and older. Users under 18 must obtain verifiable parental or guardian consent before using the Service. If you are a parent and believe your child has registered without consent, contact us at info@pinskate.com and we will promptly remove the account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Some anonymized aggregate data may be retained indefinitely.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but take reasonable precautions to protect your data.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@pinskate.com.
11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To submit a CCPA request, contact info@pinskate.com.
12. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions and improve performance. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking for ad targeting. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
13. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites (e.g. brand websites, Google Maps). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
14. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
